Letter from NCFL President re Dick Gaudette's retirement from NCFL Board

For the last 26 years the National Catholic Forensics League has flourished financially under the guidance of Dick Gaudette.  I am sad to announce that Dick has decided not to put his name in for nomination as the NCFL Executive Secretary/ Treasurer.

Dick has been the NCFL’s “ money man” for over half of the league’s existence. In a world of debaters and interpers there are few of us who love to play with numbers.  How lucky we were to have Dick who played with numbers well.  When Dick took over, the NCFL was not financially sound. Under Dick’s leadership and watchful eye,  the NCFL was able to grow into the vital, financially sound organization it is today.  To say that Dick will be missed is an understatement.  The loss of his professional, wise, yet jovial guidance will truly leave a void.

I don’t know if there is a way to offer fitting thanks to Dick for his decades of dedication and service, but we will try. We will be putting together a book for Dick.  If you wish to write him a letter of thanks, remembrance, or just tell a great “ Dick story”, to be included in the book, please either snail mail (Lynda Luce, N2209 Birchwood Dr. Waupaca, WI 54981) or e-mail that to me (Lynda Luce at footluce@charter.net) by March 15th.  Feel free to include pictures, drawings, articles etc.  We will present this to Dick at the awards assembly in May.

Dick’s contributions to the National Catholic Forensics League have taken us from a shaky financial past to a promising thriving future. This organization will forever be better because Dick Gaudette cared so much about the NCFL.
