It is with great sadness that we share that Mrs. Bernadette Colletti of Chicago passed away on March 16, 2024 (memorials.cumberlandchapels.com/bernadette-colletti/5397630/). Bern was a tireless supporter of forensic activities, contributing greatly to the NCFL as hostess to eight Grand National Tournaments. Please keep her family and friends across the country in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

The NCFL is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Richard Gaudette of Natick High School. A former French teacher and Vice Principal from the mid 1960's until his retirement from Natick High in 1992, Richard's dedication to speech & debate continued, serving as the NCFL Executive Secretary and Treasurer for 24 years. His service to the NCFL was so extraordinary, when he retired from his role in 2008, a service award was created in his honor. His dedication to speech & debate was truly remarkable, as was he. Richard Gaudette is a legendary part of our history, a great mentor to so many of us, and a great friend. He will be sorely missed. Please keep his family and friends across the country in your thoughts. |

- Updated Congress Manual (Student Congress) - Current Version: Fall 2023 (for use at NCFL2024)
- Interested in hosting NCFL Nationals? Read our updated bid packet here.
- The Diocesan Director Information Form, School Membership Form, Richard Gaudette Service Award Nomination Form, and NCFL Executive Council Nomination Form have all been updated and can be found on our NCFL Forms page under the About Us section.
- Additional updates to our NCFL Constitution and By-Laws will be posted here soon.

NCFL will not restrict the use of ChatGPT, Bard, or other similar AI-based research tools in Extemp Prep, Student Congress, or Debate events. These can be legitimate research tools. However, given that some of these systems lack current data and often do not cite exact sources or evidence, using them directly for speech preparation will be challenging. Click here to read the NCFL Statement on the Use of ChatGPT and Similar AI Tools.
